RECCE TRIP REPORT OF TIA TO LARGYAB TREKKING TRAIL
On 27th of Sep -2020 the fourth phase of Reconnaissance/ Recce from TIA to LARGYAB was started.
Following are the members of LMGA team for the third phase of Recce from TIA to LARGYAB trekking trail:

DAY 1: Tia village (3535m) to Tia Drok (3763m):
From top of the village we are entering into the right valley after crossing stream water. We pass the MANE CHUSKOR on other side of stream and start ascending a small pass called GORDUNGSI-LA (3757 m) and rest an easy walk through the valley of Tia Drok. Drok is the summer grazing place of Tia village with many PULLU and fields. Upper part of drok is the perfect place for camping with many fields, pasture land and water nearby.
Duration: 3-4hrs.

DAY2: TIA DROK TO DAKSKYANG GONGMA/ LARTSA (5,057m) (near small lake):
Day two is bit challenge as compare to first day with minor ascend hills and most of walk
is along the stream water in a beautiful valley. After finishing DROK we pass places called CHUTANGMO, FONGSERGA-CHAN, DAKSKYANG YOKMA and then after ascending a small hill we reach a perfect place for camp called DAKSKYANG GONGMA with beautiful small lake. Duration: 5 hrs.
Overnight: DAKSKYANG GONGMA (34°48’19.38’’N 77°00’28.23”E)
DAY3: DAKSKYANG GONGMA/LARTSA TO TUNU PULU via (kangla pass (5,400m) (34°49’83.01’’N 76°99’50.09”E):
Today is a quite long day as compare to other days, from starting we start ascend the rocky moraine hill with gradual steep. Though the pass is quite high 5,400mtr but it doesn’t looks tough and high because of gradual steep all the way to the top of the pass. The most part trail is a rocky from beginning till the top of the pass. The view from top of pass is amazing with the glaciers on the sides.
Now the descend part till the half is like same on a rocky trail and rest have to walk around 400 meters on glacier and then moraine till the base of the pass.
Duration: 6 hrs.
Overnight: TUNU PULU (A small pasture land) (4,800m) (34°52’93.73’’N 76°99’37.71”E) Recommendation: Trail has to be repaired for horses on both side of pass. Most of the part is rocky moraines.
DAY4: TUNU PULU TO SPULU-SHUS (4,456m):
Today is a quite easy day walking down through the valley along the stream water with a beautiful view of the mountains and peaks around. We pass the LARTSE-SPANGPOCHEY a beautiful big pasture land with full of yaks and cows and then PULLU, summer place of the villager in the down valley. The camp will be at a small pasture land with spring water called SPULU-SHUS.
Duration: 3-4 hrs.
Overnight: Spulu-Shus (34°60’23.83’’N 77°06’79.24”E)
DAY5: SPULU-SHUS TO LARGYAB GONGMA / TARU GONGMA (4,055m): Last day is a short trek down to village and it will take around 3 hrs. Can have a village tour and monastery visit . Duration: 3hrs.
Overnight: Tharu Gongma/Largyap Gongma (34°61’81.91’’N 77°12’14.48”E)
Conclusion:If the trek starts from Nubra side then we can drive till LARGYAB GONGMA and spent night over there. Following will be the Itinerary from LARGYAB TO TIA:
Day 1: Largyab-Gongma to SPULU-SHUS
Day 2: SPULU-SHUS to LARTSA/TUNU PULU
Day 3: Lartsa to Dakskyang-yokma Day 4: Dakskyang-Yokma to Tia village
